Back 2 School Program
Our Back 2 School initiative is the largest school supply distribution program in the entire state. In 2012, we provided half a million school supplies to more than 19,500 underprivileged children. While we distribute most of the supplies in August, the program is a year-round effort requiring thousands of man-hours and volunteers, as well as the gracious support of many sponsors and many more individuals. We do one massive distribution event and several smaller distribution events each fall. The main school supply distribution day also includes a separate event for as many as 500 children who get to participate in a variety of activities and demonstrations designed to inspire, educate and inspire them to go back to school.
Back 2 School Program – Win School Supplies for an Entire School Contest
Here is a chance to win school supplies for every student of a Chicago school! Anyone can enter our contest. Whether you are a parent, child, faculty member, community leader, or concerned citizen, you can show your support for the school of your choice by entering. On the opening day of school, August 26, we will show up at the winning school with a truckload of Back 2 School kits, enough to give each student their own box of school supplies. Scholarship Program
Each year we provide scholarships to deserving Illinois high school seniors so they can attend college. Applications are no longer being accepted for 2013 but we will have information and an application for our 2014 scholarship program available in December.
Fire Prevention Program
ICECF supports fire safety and education programs in Illinois. Currently, we also offer a free downloadable, bilingual version of “The 10 Steps to Fire and Safety and Prevention coloring book. If you have children or know of young persons that could benefit from learning more about fire safety we encourage you to provide them with one of our coloring books and go through the 10-steps to fire safety with them.
In partnership with State Farm Insurance, we will also be putting fire prevention and fire safety coloring books in all our Back 2 School kits we give to 5-8 year old children.
